Nick Gruy

Vice President, Partner

Nick Gruy is a vested Partner and acting Vice President of Sentinel Capital. He directs the underwriting and financial modeling for commercial acquisitions, dispositions, and ground-up developments. He acts as a construction and project manager on multi-family and commercial development and renovation ventures. Mr. Gruy promotes business development on behalf of Sentinel Capital by sourcing and expanding equity contacts and maintaining investor relations. He also spearheads financing opportunities and oversees the project governance processes.

With over 9-years of commercial real estate experience, Mr. Gruy brings with him development and underwriting expertise from New York City, where he worked as an analyst for the second and fourth most active team in NYC and the country by sales volume according to the Wall Street Journal. He was intimately involved with over $500MM worth of product and worked on the pre-development phases of an additional $450MM in New York.

Mr. Gruy holds a Master’s Degree with distinction in Real Estate Development from Columbia University in New York with a specialization in construction finance and was the 1st Place winner of the 2017 International Developers’ Den Competition in Toronto, Canada. Additionally, Mr. Gruy earned his M.B.A. from Rice University in Houston with a specialization in real estate, and is the recipient of the 2019 Urban Land Institute Membership Scholarship. Mr. Gruy is a Licensed Texas Real Estate Salesperson and is currently preparing for the SIE and Series 7 Licensing exams. He is a candidate for the Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) designation.

Mr. Gruy is an active member of Urban Land Institute (ULI), Association of Commercial Real Estate Professionals (ACRP), Rice Business Partners, the Rice Real Estate Club and the Baker Institute of Public Policy. He sits on the Young Associates council of the Houston Symphony and is a regular volunteer for Jones Gives Back.
